Growing Pains.... OUCH!

"Does Your child wake up crying in the night complaining
that his or her legs are hurting?
You rub them and soothe him as much as you can,
but you're uncertain about whether to give him any medication or take him to the doctor?"

GROWING

PAINS!

My Little guy (Mr 3) has been getting what we thought were 'Growing Pains' since he was one year old.
(he would cry for a few hours of a night, a couple of times a month)

Just lately we have been thinking there maybe something other then just
 'Growing pains' going on!

He has been crying and saying his leg hurts
(usually his calf muscle but sometimes his knees).

This has been going on constantly for the last 4 days
(day and night, worse at night)
He cries literally All Night, wakes up Grumpy, then sooks for the rest of the day!

We had been to see the doctor a few times and everytime we go
he says "its just 'Growing pains' "

We went again yesterday, and the doctor told us its just 'growing pains', but if he continues to complain about his legs for the next 2 weeks,
then to take him back.
(2 weeks!?)

When i woke him this morning he complained his thighs hurt!?

I remember being a child and getting growing pains.
I remember them being very painful,
but i don't remember them still being there when i woke up of a morning.

I'm in desperate need of ideas, on how i can
help soothe his little legs!

What do you do to help your little one deal with

 Growing pains??

My son was complaining about his knees hurting yesterday. We were concerned, because we think his knees go in a lot, even though the doctors say it's normal for his age. I've never heard of growing pains, maybe that will explain it? Sorry I can't be of any help, I hope your Little guy feels better soon.

Sorry I don't know much about it either. I dropped in hoping that someone would have some miracle advice just incase one of mine start complaining of sore legs. I hope your little man feels better soon. My husband recalls having terrible growing pains, bad enough that he still remembers them today.

My four year old has been getting relief for over a year with a wheat bag. A plain, simple old wheat bag.

He wakes screaming for the wheat bag now rather than "My legs hurt".

I hope someone posts something that will help him.

My nephew used to get them so bad he couldn't even walk. My sister in law used hearing pads and lots of ibuprofen...and hugs and kisses ;)

Jane that's awful.
I'd go the wheatbag like others suggested.
If you're worried, screw the two week wait. It's completely unrelated but they asked us to wait two weeks before getting Tricky's skull xray and we refused to - if we had of waited it's unlikely he would have been able to have his minor surgery, instead a massive operation that they do on older babies.
Speak up and don't ever let a doctor make you feel like a paranoid mother. We know our children. We know when they're in pain and not just grizzling. Too often we are made to feel like idiots and it's crap.
Hope he feels better soon x
