The lovely Mandy from 'A little space like home', is here today to share with us her experience of Keeping kiddies entertained at Birthday parties.
Cupcakes with Icing
What’s my party secret that always gets a huge applause from other parents?

Cupcakes with Icing
I know, you’re probably wondering what I’m going on about right now.
But let me take it back a notch.
This month we’re celebrating my son’s 4th birthday.
He had a big party with his kinder friends.

Now if we be honest about it, kids at this age struggle
with things like pass the parcel and need something to grab their attention
in between all the running around.

So whenever I hold a kids party I always have a cupcake decorating session.
Things I know about (most) kids:
Things I know about (most) kids:
§ They love lollies
§ They love cakes
§ They love to ‘make stuff’
When we’re preparing for a party there are so many things we need to consider,
so to minimize the additional work I use packet mix
(but of course you can suit yourself).

I also choose to use cup cake cases that are extra deep. Usually we are looking for a nice raised cupcake but in this instance a little lip on the case is handy, I can tell you from experience these cupcakes will be fully loaded.
Once you’ve made your cupcakes and they’ve cooled down, cover with frosting.
I always use the white frosting so they look plain, like shells,
ensuring all creative rights belong to the child.

Then put aside in anticipation of the party.
Lastly but not least, you need to prepare decorations.
I always put together approximately half a dozen little snack cups filled with choices.
That way they can share them around.

Some suggestions would include:
§ Mini marshmallows
§ Mini M&M’s
§ Choc Buds
§ Bullets
§ Jube lollies
We’ve always done this activity to fill up some time at a party.
I usually run it toward the end of the party
allowing children to take their creation home if they like.
And although my children are still quite young,
I’m sure older children would embrace this activity too.
Just think cupcakes with icing, it’s as simple as that really.

what a great idea!! Next time we are brave enough to have a party at home, I will have to remember to do this.
Now I want a cupcake hehe
Great idea! Wonder if it will be adult enough for my hubbies birthday at the end of the year :)
sensational! I love the shop feel about it too. Very exciting for the kids and the selections are too scrumptious!
