There are some really rewarding careers that don't pay as nearly well as it should. These careers include positions in the field of social worker, teachers and people who protect and serve our communities each day. Included below are tips for living comfortably no matter how much money you earn.

Cut Your Clothing Bill in Half

Everyone wants to look good and so should you, no matter how much you make. Style should not be compromised because of your lack of funds. To help stretch your dollars on your clothing expenses use the tips included below.

Shop at your local thrift stores, second hand and consignment stores. You will find great bargains, barely worn clothes, name brands and some clothes with tags still on at a fraction of the cost. No one has to know where you purchase your clothes from but you.

Another trick to cutting your clothing bill in half is to shop off season. As the seasons change, department stores need to get rid of old inventory to make room for new inventory, so it prices these items considerably low to move them. Stock up on these items even though you may not be able to wear the clothing items until that season comes around again next year.

Entertainment on a Budget

You should not sacrifice your social life because you feel that you don't have the money to spend to hang with your friends. You can still have a vibrant social life with limited funds.

Sign up to receive daily notifications from social group buying websites. Doing so will allow you to receive deeply discounted prices on the best stuff to see, do, eat, and buy in your area.

Instead of going out to an expensive dinner with your friends, host a weekly pot luck dinner at your home. Ask everyone to bring a dish. If you must go out to eat, insist on meeting your friends for lunch instead of dinner.

Minimize Your Living Expenses

There are a lot of things you can do to cut your living expenses to the bare minimum to stretch your dollars even more.

  • Get a roommate if you haven't done so already. This will literally cut your living expenses in half.
  • Carpool to work or opt to use public transportation a few days out of the week to reduce the amount of gasoline you have to purchase each week.
  • Use coupons to reduce your grocery shopping bill. If your local grocery store offers a rewards member savings program, sign up for it. It is free of charge and offers special discount savings for members only.
  • There are many cellphone companies offering unlimited text messaging, browsing and calling plans for one monthly fee. Most offer these plans on a monthly basis without the need for a contract. Sign up for one of these plans if you haven't already done so.

You may not earn a huge salary, but you don’t have to feel deprived because of it. Some of the most gratifying jobs are the ones that pay considerably less.
